Game-Hating Senator Tells Gamers to Shut Up in Violent Games Debate

It's like he's trying to rile us up.

Sometimes we feel like Calif. Senator Leland Yee is less of a real senator and more just a guy who says and does things specifically to get a rise out of gamers. Like a massive troll, but somehow with a ton of influence in politics. Actually, there are a lot of those, now that we think about it. But still, Yee's most recent idiotic comment is sure to rile you up:

"Gamers have got to just quiet down," Yee told the San Francisco Chronicle in an article about video games' place in the gun violence debate. "Gamers have no credibility in this argument. This is all about their lust for violence and the industry's lust for money. This is a billion-dollar industry. This is about their self-interest."

Could this guy be a bigger douche? Does he think homosexuals should just "quiet down" about civil rights, too? The problem is Yee seems to view video games as a plague with no inherent worth, whereas proponents of the games industry tend to approach these things (rightly) as an issue of free speech.

So how does it feel to be told to shut up when it comes to fighting for your own rights?
