As expected, the Doctor Who Christmas Special was a winner in the ratings for BBC America. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hour-long special broke the record for most-watched telecast in its target 25-to-54 demo, as well as nearly broke the record that the season seven premiere set for most-watched telecast ever.
The episode, which featured the introduction of new companion Clara Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman) as well as evil snowmen, garnered an average of 1.43 million viewers, which is up 54% in total viewers from last year's Christmas special.
The show officially returns to BBC America for the second half of season seven this coming spring.
