'Dead Space 3' Producer Defends Un-Optimized PC Port

Visceral wants the game to be equal on all platforms.

None

Visceral Games got some flak recently for admitting that their Dead Space 3 port for PC won't be optimized much for the system, but the game's executive producer, Steve Papoutsis, was quick to jump to its defense. Here are some excerpts from his statements to Shacknews:

It's by no means any less important to us; it gets a lot of attention. The PC is a very different platform. As developers, you want to deliver an experience that's as similar as possible on different platforms.

He added:

The biggest thing is we want to make sure the quality of the experience is consistent across all platforms so we don't have one userbase saying it's better on their system.

Papoutsis also said that the addition of mouse and keyboard controls makes the game feel quite different already, implying that more changes shouldn't be necessary for PC players to enjoy Dead Space 3.

What do you think? Is equality across platforms a good reason not to optimize games for PC?
