A few weeks ago, director Spike Lee had some harsh words to say about Quentin Tarantino’s depiction of slavery in Django Unchained, despite the fact that he hadn’t yet seen the movie. Lee argued that Tarantino was treating slavery like a joke, which led to his obvious disgust with the whole project. Well recently, director Antoine Fuqua came to Tarantino’s defense while speaking at the 17th Capri, Hollywood Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"That’s just not the way you do things," said Fuqua, in reference to Lee’s quote. "If you disagree with the way a colleague did something, call him up, invite him out for a coffee, talk about it. But don’t do it publicly."

"I don’t think Quentin Tarantino has a racist bone in his body," he said. "Besides, I’m good friends with [Django Unchained star]Jamie Foxx and he wouldn’t have anything to do with a film that had anything racist to it."

Django was always going to be controversial, and it seems like the issue isn’t going away any time soon. Our opinion is that both men should actually go see the movie before defending it or knocking it. Also, our advice to those reading this article is to see it too, because it happens to be one of the best movies of the year.
