Just a few months after the initial teaser trailer for The Lone Ranger was released online, Disney has put out this new full length trailer that gives us an even closer look at the world director Gore Verbinski has created. Mixing humor and action, this movie is obviously trying to recreate the magic that Verbinski and Johnny Depp captured on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It remains to be seen if they got the job done, though.
Here we get Depp as the eccentric Tonto, who teams up with the square-jawed Lone Ranger, played by Armie Hammer. Instead of focusing on the dynamic of this pairing, though, the trailer relies more on quick cuts, explosions, and Depp’s performance to sell the movie. However, for a summer blockbuster, this trailer basically does what it’s supposed to do.
The Lone Ranger will hit theaters on July 3, 2013.
