Earlier this year, HBO debuted the movie Game Change, which focused on the selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate during the 2008 presidential election. The movie was based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s 2010 book of the same name, and was a critical and commercial hit for the network. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is developing a sequel titled Double Down, focusing on the 2012 presidential election between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

This will again be based on a book of the same name by Heilemann and Halperin that will hit shelves in fall of 2013. The cable network will have the movie ready to go after the debut of the book, but other than that there is no firm release date as of now. However, we do know that director Jay Roach and writer Danny Strong are expected to return for this sequel. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
