For those that thought (and hoped) Google's social network would crash and burn, we've got bad news: It's not happening. According to an announcement made on the Google blog, Google+ now boasts 135 million active users checking their stream.

The 17-month-old social network had 100 million users actively using the stream—the Google+ equivalent of the Facebook News Feed—back in September. Since then it's been adding an average of 14 million users a month. That's the same pace of growth Facebook experienced back in 2008.

"Google Plus is the fastest-growing network thingy ever," said Google Senior Vice President Vic Gundotra on the company's achievement

In addition to bragging about its explosive growth, Google also introduced Snapspeed for Android. Made by Nik Software (which Google purchased in September), the photo-editing and sharing app lets users alter images by adding filters similar to Instagram and share them on Google+.

So, yeah, doesn't look like Google+ is going anywhere.
