Though 2012 was the highest-grossing year at the domestic box office in history, there were also plenty of flops to keep all of us wondering how some of these movies even got the green light in the first place. And according to Movie Line, the distinction of the lowest-grossing film of the year belongs to Christian Slater’s Playback, which made a mere $264 during its one-week run in a single theater.

The site is reporting that it earned $252 on opening night, and then another $12 the rest of the week. We thought Taylor Kitsch had a bad year with John Carter and Battleship both bombing, but Slater’s achievement in box office futility makes Kitsch look like Will Smith in comparison. If there is anyone brave enough to watch Playback, it’s currently on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
