An "Angry Birds" Movie Is Coming In 2016

From the producer of Despicable Me.

None

According to Coming Soon, Rovio Entertainment will finance and produce a big screen adaptation of the popular mobile game, Angry Birds, in 2016. Despicable Me producer, John Cohen, has signed on for the same position for this film, and David Maisel, the former Chairman of Marvel Studios, will executive produce. The movie will be financed and produced outside of any major studio, which will allow Rovio to retain creative control on the project.

Cohen has worked extensively on animated movies in the past, such as Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who, Ice Age, Robots, and more, so it comes as no surprise that Angry Birds will be a 3D CGI-animated film like the others. No exact release date has been announced yet, but Angry Birds will be in theaters by summer of 2016. We just wonder if the game will still be popular by then.
