None

Disney’s newly-announced Star Wars trilogy is one of the hottest projects currently in Hollywood for directors to make a big splash in the mainstream and an even bigger payday. And in recent weeks, filmmakers from all genres have given their opinions on the relaunch of this beloved franchise with either hope, trepidation, or both. Recently,Hollywood Life caught up with both J.J. Abrams and Jon Favreau to gauge their interest in these new Star Wars movies as fans and prospective directors. Here is what Abrams said about it:

None

It makes sense that Abrams would have little interest in directing this trilogy due to the fact that he’s still firmly entrenched in the Star Trek universe. But Favreau seemed a bit more positive in his statements:

None

With Abrams out, would Favreau make sense to direct these movies? He doesn't come right out and say it, but he likely has some interest in doing it. He has a relationship with Lucas, and he proved with Iron Man that he can do blockbuster action with humor and heart. But Cowboys and Aliens was so bad that it makes him a suspicious candidate, at best. We’ll just have to wait and find out.
