During last night’s Presidential debate, an extended TV spot for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln was shown that featured the more inspirational side of the 16th President. Daniel Day Lewis just looks spot-on in this role as his presence and raw physical appearance make him almost an exact replica of Lincoln himself. We also get a look at more of the supporting cast like Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and Jackie Earle Haley, who add to the seemingly rich tapestry of history that Spielberg has laid out here.

This isn’t a linear biopic of Lincoln from birth to death; instead, this movie seems to focus on his most crowning achievement: The Emancipation Proclamation. The story behind that should be more than enough to remind us just how great the man truly was.

Lincoln will open in limited theaters on November 9 before opening wide on November 16.
