It's no secret that all the computers, gadgets, and devices made by the big American technology and electronics companies are not made in America. It's also not a secret that most of them are made in China. So imagine our surprise when Lenovo, a Chinese company, today announced that it plans to start producing some of its computers right here in the good ol' U.S.A.

Yes, while HP, Apple, and Dell have their Pavilions, MacBooks, and Inspirons, respectively, made overseas, Lenovo has been planning a $2 million upgrade to one of its warehouse facilities in Whitsett, NC to build ThinkPad laptops, ThinkCentre desktops, and some tablets. The plant will employ 115 people.

The volume of production at the new plant likely won't match Lenovo's other plants and factories, but the initiative is something we can get behind. According to The Verge, the move "signals a broader initiative to locally produce machines in its largest markets, where possible."
