At the time of this writing, Minecraft on Xbox Live Arcade is being played by more people than both FIFA 13 and Modern Warfare 3.
This is a massive feather in the cap of Notch and the little indie-game that could. Unseating major label juggernauts like FIFA 13 and Modern Warfare, is more than just a financial milestone for Minecraft. Call of Duty titles have sat atop the Xbox Live Arcade charts for the past four years. The fact that MInecraft has sold over four million copies, making it the best selling Xbox Live Arcade game ever, is a clear indicator of the direction the industry is heading.
