From the “We can’t believe this is happening, either” file, Deadline has broken the news that David Gordon Green is in talks with Sony to bring Little House on the Prairie to the big screen. Based on the children’s book series, Little House on the Prairie focuses on the life of a farming family in the 19th century. Most notably it was turned into a TV series, which was incredibly popular during the ‘70s and ‘80s.
We’re not shocked that the venerable series is hitting the theaters; we’re shocked that it’s Green who will be behind camera for it. This is a radical shift in tone for the man who directed flicks like The Sitter, Pineapple Express, and George Washington. Abi Morgan (Shame) will be writing the script for the movie, so it seems like it won't be a comedic take on the material, either. We have no idea what this means for Green’s Suspiria remake, but it’s safe to assume that it is at least delayed for now. Bummer.
