We know that being dead doesn’t mean much in the Marvel comics, but now it seems like that same mindset is making it into the company’s live-action endeavors as it was announced during the New York Comic-Con that Clark Gregg will be reprising his role as agent Phil Coulson in ABC’s upcoming SHIELD TV show, according to Super Hero Hype.

As you may remember, Coulson was killed by Loki during The Avengers, but that’s not stopping the company from including the character on the show, especially since he’s turned into a cult favorite of sorts. In the comics, SHIELD often employed Life Model Decoys to protect their identities and go into battle for them, so perhaps the Coulson that was killed during the movie wasn’t the real deal. Or maybe the show takes place before the movie. We’ll have to wait until the show debuts to know for sure.
