After spending years in development hell with a revolving door of directors and stars, Vulture is reporting that Gangster Squad helmer Ruben Fleischer has been hired by Warner Brothers to finally get a Spy Hunter adaptation off the ground. The movie will be based on the classic video game series that basically just involved driving around, shooting things, and spilling oil on the road to evade enemies.

Recently, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was attached to star in the movie, but it isn’t clear yet who Fleischer will choose to play the lead. We’ll have more information on this project as it becomes available.
