According to Variety, Philip Seymour Hoffman is gearing up to direct a supernatural thriller titled Ezekiel Moss over at Mandalay Pictures. The film will be set during the Great Depression and follows a young boy who starts a friendship with a drifter that claims he can talk to the dead. Keith Bunin’s script for the movie was on the 2011 Hollywood Black List, which collects the best unproduced scripts of the year.
This will be Hoffman’s second directing gig. In 2010 he helmed the romantic comedy Jack Goes Boating, and earned some decent praise from critics. This news comes directly off of Hoffman’s Oscar-worthy role in The Master. If he can manage to hone his directing skills to be on par with his acting, then Hoffman will easily become one of the hottest personalities in Hollywood.
