This week marks the 75th anniversary of the release of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic, The Hobbit. And to recognize this occasion, it seems like Peter Jackson and co. have decided to unleash some much-needed marketing for the first part of the upcoming Hobbit film trilogy, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. First it was revealed yesterday that a new trailer for the movie would be released Wednesday, and now USA Today has debuted six new images from the film.

These new stills capture everyone from Bilbo and Gandalf, to the Dwarves and Gollum. Just from looking at these new pictures it’s obvious that Jackson hasn’t lost a step from his Lord of the Rings days as far as the visuals are concerned. Again it looks like he has brought Middle Earth to life in all of its fantastic splendor without relying too heavily on CGI or digital sets. Check out the images for yourself below.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in theaters on December 14.
