Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson isn't shy when it comes to his feelings on Windows 8. In fact, he apparently told Microsoft just today that he won't support the new operating system, which has garnered criticism from other devs (including Blizzard and Valve) for its relatively closed-off digital ecosystem.

"Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help "certify" minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform," Notch wrote today on Twitter. He followed up with, "I'd rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way.."

Minecraft doesn't need to be certified to run on Windows 8, but it may run into other issues. Do you think Notch should take a stand here? Is Windows 8 worth getting worked up about?
