It seems like no movie franchise has been revisited as often as The Amityville Horror series. Since 1979 there have been 10 different films sporting that Amityville name, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, we should expect another one to hit theaters in the near future. The site is reporting that producer Tony DeRosa-Grund is in the midst of developing a new version of the movie in the found footage format that is currently the trend in Hollywood.

The movie will be based on the real life experience of Laura DiDio and Marvin Scott, two reporters who investigated the original Amityville incident in the ‘70s. According to the site, DiDio’s resulting news reports, “revealed ghostly presences, including that of a young boy, in the house.”

Focusing on the investigation into the house rather than new tenants moving into it, this Amityville project will at least differ in plot from the original. Still, after 10 installments you have to wonder how much this series has left in the tank.
