HP is Getting Back into the Tablet Game

Welcome back.

After HP shelved the TouchPad tablet and placed WebOS in developmental purgatory, it didn't seem likely that the company would jump back into the mobile handset market. But things change. Today The Verge got its hands on an internal memo that announced HP is planning to launch a new Mobility unit that will focus on tablets. Alberto Torres, formerly of Nokia, has been hired to run the group. According to the memo, Torres' first task will be to acclerate HP's "tablet strategy and begin to execute products against our consumer/SMB target." It will be interesting to see if HP uses WebOS for its upcoming tablets or rocks with Windows 8.

Head to The Verge to peep the entire memo.
