Under a new rule instated by the International Volleyball Federation, female beach volleyball players are now allowed to compete in shorts and t-shirts instead of skimpy bikinis, which allows players from countries with religious restrictions on showing skin in public to participate at the Olympics. Team USA, i.e. Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, have taken a bold stance regarding the rule change and have indicated that they will continue to flaunt their ridiculously toned bodies in their skimpy bikini uniforms.

It's not so much a brash middle finger to the rule change as an issue of comfort, however. The bikini has always been their uniform, so switching the style up to shorts and t-shirts might throw off their gold medal campaign. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
