Skulls of the Shogun is a very special game for Microsoft. What might have normally been a simple XBLA-exclusive has become the company's rallying cry for gaming across Microsoft's upcoming set of Windows 8 devices. The game, which is coming out on Window 8, Windows Phone 7, XBLA, and Microsoft's upcoming tablet, the Surface.

It's only fitting, then, that Skulls of the Shogun will be released on all of those platforms the same week as as Windows 8, which launches October 26th. "The plan is to sim-ship on Win 8 (desktop, and both versions of Surface), Windows Phone 7 and XBLA in the same week," says Jake Kazdal of developer 17-bit.

"We're certainly shooting for day one release with Win 8, and it looks very likely, but nothing is set in stone yet."

If you haven't checked out Skulls of the Shogun, an awesome-looking, multiplayer-centric, turn-based strategy game, then you should watch the trailer above. If you're already looking forward to the game... Well you should probably watch it too.
