Because there definitely aren't enough spy espionage movies in the world, Ubisoft has reportedly been throwing around the idea for a Splinter Cell movie, and Paramount and Warner Bros. have bitten.

Now the two studios are competing for the chance to develop the film, which will be based on Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series of games, not the Tom Clancy novels that inspired them. Paramount appears to be the front runner at this point.

Ubisoft would retain more control than is typical for game-to-movie projects, which historically have sucked. But their recent Ghost Recon Alpha short film did not disappoint, so hopefully a Splinter Cell movie can retain that high level of quality.
