The final DLC mission pack for Saint's Row: The Third, Enter the Dominatrix, has been "delayed" so that Volition can expand the game into a fully-fledged Saint's Row sequel, which will hit stores in 2013.

Originally set to come out this fall, Enter the Dominatrix would have been the fourth mission-based DLC for Saint's Row: The Third released almost a year after the game's retail release last November.

"When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise," THQ president Jason Rubin told Edge. "I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed that we wanted to play that game."

Enter The Dominatrix was supposed to be closer to an old-fashioned expansion pack than a quick-fix DLC pack. In addition to a longer story arc, the DLC supposedly would add super powers to the Saint's vast arsenal.

Rubin also confirmed that the next Saint's Row will have some kind of multiplayer component. Saint's Row: The Third has a small wave-based co-op mode, but was far from essential. Rubin's early mention of multiplayer may imply that Enter the Dominatrix may up the ante in the multiplayer department.
