After recent news connecting Samuel L. Jackson and Abbie Cornish to director Jose Padilha's remake of the sci-fi classic RoboCop, it looks like the 2013 release will feature another highly respected actor (Gary Oldman is also attached). Fresh off the series finale of his hit Fox drama House, Hugh Laurie is in talks to play the villain, against The Killing actor Joel Kinnaman (who will headline the film).

If Laurie officially signs the dotted line, he will play the greedy head of Omni Corp, the company that turns Kinnaman's character, slain cop Alex Murphy, into a cyborg for monetary reasons.

RoboCop is currently scheduled for an August 9, 2013.
