It was reported earlier that Jessica Chastain was in talks to join Shane Black'sIron Man 3, but Variety has confirmed that she has dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. Now Disney and Marvel Studios have begun negotiating with Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona) to take over the role of scientist Maya Hansen.
Although The Avengers made it pretty clear that Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are going at it pretty hot and heavy, Hansen might add some sexual tension to the dynamic as her motives were pretty nefarious in the comics. The movie is rumored to be based off of writer Warren Ellis' "Extremis" storyline, where a nanotech virus gets loose and threatens national security.
Iron Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
