After passing up Firefox late last year, Google Chrome has now beat out longtime champion Internet Explorer as the most used browser in the world, according to StatCounter.
For a week this month, Chrome surpassed IE for the first time ever, claiming 32.8 percent of the browser market. At the same time, IE dipped to a low of 31.9 percent.
Around this time last year, Internet Explorer was still the undisputed leader by a wide margin at about 45 percent market share.
Firefox, for its part, is still hovering in third place at around 25 percent.
