Get Your Flowery Minions Ready For A New "Pikmin" Game At E3

Miyamoto's other, other, other best series is definitely heading to Wii U.

None

Speaking to Spanish publication El Mundo, famed Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto let slip that the next Pikmin game, in development for quite some time now, is now heading to the Wii U—and that it'll make an appearance at this year's E3 in June.

Nintendo confirmed the news to Kotaku, saying "In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing.'

The Gamecube favorite franchise has been conspicuously absent in recent years, despite being mentioned numerous times by Miyamoto and others at Nintendo. No word yet on what they've actually got planned for Pikmin 3, though we're expecting nothing short of brilliance, if the first two are any indication.

Nintendo also confirmed today that the New Super Mario Bros. franchise will also be heading to the Wii U, and they'll be showing that off at E3 this year as well.

We're looking forward to checking the games out at E3 2012. Are you an Olimar follower or could you not care less about Pikmin? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
