It's not often that fans of an under-performing TV show ever get to see a satisfying conclusion to their favorite series. Usually, the show winds up getting canceled way before its time, tainting the entire series as a whole. Well, thankfully, Fox isn't going to let that happen to Fringe as TV Line is reporting that it has been picked up for a fifth and final season of 13 episodes.

Fox president Kevin Reilly admitted that the network loses money on the show due to its low ratings, but in a statement he said, "Fringe is a remarkably creative series that has set the bar as one of television’s most imaginative dramas." He continued, “Bringing it back for a final 13 allows us to provide the climactic conclusion that its passionate and loyal fans deserve. The amazing work the producers, writers and the incredibly talented cast and crew have delivered the last four seasons has literally been out of this world. Although the end is bittersweet, it’s going to be a very exciting final chapter.”

The site claims that Fringe is a genuine passion project for Reilly, and that is basically the only thing keeping the show afloat. Now fans of J.J. Abrams' mind-bending thriller can rest easy knowing that the network is doing everything in its power to make sure Fringe ends in a satisfying way.
