If you have been patiently waiting for the 24 movie to hit theaters then your wait just got a lot longer. According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox isn't going ahead with the film in 2012, and there is no timetable for its production to begin again. The site is further reporting that the reasoning behind the delay is mainly due to budget concerns and Kiefer Sutherland's contract situation.

Sutherland's deal was for $1 million and it would have included reward based incentives depending on how the movie performed. The site is reporting that Sutherland is very unhappy about the current deal, which is down from his original asking price of $5 million. Also, the studio wanted to limit the movie's budget to $30 million, while the filmmakers wanted at least $45-60 million to complete the project. There were rumors about Antoine Fuqua being eyed to direct the movie, but after these developments, that remains in the air.

Not only does this move delay 24 for the rest of the year, but Deadline is making it seem like the film is no longer a definite part of Fox's future plans at this point.
