MTV might have to hit the brakes on Snooki and JWOWW'sJersey Shore spin-off, as the town where they planned to shoot has denied a request for a filming permit.

Hoboken, NJ mayor Dawn Zimmer announced (see the letter above) that the Hoboken Film Commission unanimously decided to reject 495 Productions' permit "based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents." Apparently, a local policy outlaws all filming past 11 p.m. in residential areas.

Zimmer is also responsible for Hoboken's St. Patrick's Day Parade being cancelled. This, like the decision to shot Snooki and J-Woww down, are an attempt to uphold the town's image. The show might have to remain in Jersey City, but Snooki could be harboring an internal threat to the production. The latter is unlikely, though.
