Earlier today, The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences released its list of nominees for the 84th annual Academy Awards. Martin Scorsese'sHugo led the field with 11 nominations, while The Artist followed closely with 10. The other big movies on the slate are The Descendents, Moneyball, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Unfortunately, Andy Serkis was not nominated for his role as Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but the movie was nominated for "Best Visual Effects".
