Fans of The Office will soon be seeing a lot more of Dwight Schrute if NBC has anything to say about it. The network is currently working on a spin-off of the show that would focus on Schrute's life at his beet farm, which doubles as a bed & breakfast, according to Deadline.

The show is tentatively scheduled to debut mid-season 2013 as of right now. While Rainn Wilson, the actor who plays Dwight, won't be immediately leaving The Office, the show will slowly start building towards the spin-off with an episode later this season taking place on the farm.

The writers of The Office have been setting up the departure for quite some time now, and the biggest hint came when Andy (played by Ed Helms) became the new boss of Dunder-Mifflin over Dwight. This will provide Dwight with the proper motivation to leave, and it also ensures that he isn't the main character when he does finally depart.

Although NBC is hoping that The Office and the Dwight spin-off can both be on the air together, the network has yet to reach new deals with John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, or Ed Helms for season 9 of the show. So this could be seen as a preemptive strike by the network to guarantee that some type of Office related programming will definitely be on the air in the coming years.
