The Black Keys dropped a pretty damn good new album (just listen to “Sister”) by the name of El Camino this past Tuesday, but you won’t find it on any streaming services such as MOG, Rdio, Rhapsody, and Spotify. As Coldplay did with their last album Mylo Xyloto, The Black Keys have also refused to make EC available for streaming, arguing that album sales suffer from play-on-demand sites.

One download reportedly generates the same profit for an artist as more than 100 streams. Yet streaming companies maintain that the discovery of music through their services yields considerable revenue for artists, with Spotify in particular citing the $150 million it’s generated over the past three years for artists.
