Just when you thought that the Curious Case of Herman Cain couldn't get anymore interesting this happens. The United States Secret Service released its confirmation that it has been authorized by Department of Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano to offer protection for the GOP candidate. Could this be due to all the backlash the former Godfather's Pizza CEO is receiving from his allegations of sexual harrassment? Or maybe the government caught wind of the Cuban Missile Crisis created in Miami a few days ago?

Either way, the Secret Service will not reveal the exact reason that the Cain campaign has requested its protection. Any candidate can receive protection if they have "achieved prominence," but we think Cain is hoping that being seen with the armed guards will help him come across as more "presidential-looking" in the polls. Besides, it's not like he is new to this, a CBSNews.com report notes that Cain has been receiving threats "as far back as when he was CEO of Godfather's Pizza."

What do you think? Will the Secret Service help Herman Cain look more Obama-esque? Let us know in the comments section below.
