The 60-year-old actor is set to take the hot seat left vacant by Kevin Costner on the eagerly-anticipated slave picture entitled Django Unchained. Writer-director Quentin Tarantino is looking to reunite with his Death Proof star, as The Hollywood Reporter claims that Russell will now play Ace Woody in the controversial spaghetti Western.

For those who haven't been keeping up our reports, Django Unchained is about a freed slave who enlists the help of a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to rescue his wife, who is enslaved at slavemaster Calvin Candie's plantation. Russell stand alongside Samuel L. Jackson as the vile right-hand man to main villain Leonardo DiCaprio. Jamie Foxx won the lead role as the titular character over Will Smithand Idris Elba, and Christoph Waltz will play the bounty hunter. Django's wife still has yet to be cast, but it's rumored that Kerry Washington will fill those shoes as Broomhilda.

The movie is set to go into production this November, by which time it is hoped Christoph Waltz will have recovered from an injury he incured while in-training on horseback for the movie last week. Django Unchained will wow audiences and offend PCers on Christmas 2012.
