James Cameron Hints At Sigourney Weaver's Return In "Avatar 2"

No one ever really dies... in sci-fi.

None

While currently prepping for Avatar 2, writer-director James Cameron let it slip that his favorite sci-fi muse, Sigourney Weaver, may return for the big blockbuster sequel. Even though we all know that her character, Grace Augustine, bites the big one (did we ruin that for you?) in the first one, Mr. Cameron, speaking with Vulture, elaborates on comments the actress made, saying:

"Well, I don't want to disabuse her of that fantasy. But have you ever heard of nonlinear storytelling? A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake shows up to join her. She's there for fifteen years ahead of time. I don't know, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions. And I've already said way too much about Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 here and there, but people piece it togehter like those voice cameos and tell the whole story!"

While we know that that's code for the obligatory montage-and-flashback that's been used in movies before—does this mean that Avatar 2 will be a prequel of sorts? In the Cameron Universe, it seems, that this could go in any direction, as he also revealed that a character never really dies in any sci-fi story. "When you have a science-fiction series, a science-fiction franchise, you're never dead, unless your DNA is expunged from the universe. And then there's always time travel!" We still have quite a ways to prepare for whatever James has to offer, as Avatar 2 is set for December 2014 and the third entry to follow a year later.

So, with anything illogically and logically able to manifest in Pandora, what are you guys wanting to see in the future? Speak your piece in the comments section below!
