On Deck This Week (9/25/2011)

Do the releases ever end?

None

We are sure that they will some time (cough, December, cough) but that won’t be this week. While this week’s list lacks the “umph” that Gears of War 3 brought last week, it more than makes up for it in the sheer number of releases..

Pick your poison:

  • Atelier Totori: Adventurer of Arland for PlayStation 3: The twelfth installment in the Atelier series, Totori takes place 5 years following the events of Atelier Rorona. It has taken the game a bit of time to see a North American release as its sequel is already available in Japan.
  • Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 for Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3: Are you ready to get your hunt on? The Cabela’s series is back yet again and will make use of last year’s Top Shot Elite peripheral which launched with Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011.
  • Castlevania: Harmony of Despair for PlayStation Network: The former Xbox Arcade exclusive takes gamers back to a simpler period with a side-scrolling, multiplayer installment in the Castlevania series. This time around though, you can enjoy it with your friends locally.
  • Child of Eden for PlayStation 3: The spiritual successor to Rez, Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s rail shooter / music game is finally making its way to the PS3. Kinect players have been raving about the title for months and now PlayStation Move players have a chance to do the same.
  • FIFA Soccer 12 for Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 3: EA Canada has taken the FIFa series back to the drawing board for the 2012 installment of the game and created a variety of new gameplay engines to enhance the title.
  • Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection for PlayStation 3: If there were ever 2 solid arguments for the “games as art” debate, these 2 titles are probably it. The PlayStation 2 classics are back with beautifully redone visuals and numerous other improvements to make them relevant for a new generation of gamers.
  • JASF: Janes Advanced Strike Fighter for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3: There are planes. They blow things up. Any questions?
  • Mercury Hg for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade: The puzzle game which made its debut on the PSP back in 2005 is back with an updated version on both the PSN and XBLA.
  • MLB Bobblehead Baseball Battle for Xbox Live Arcade: How about a little cartoony baseball to brighten up your week?
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360: The grand-daddy of all soccer simulations is back for another season.
  • Rochard for PlayStation Network: And you thought that the life of a futiristic space miner was boring?
  • Solatorobo: Red the Hunter for Nintendo DS
  • Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD for PlayStation 3: The often delayed title is on the calendar for release again this release… but we shall see if it actually shows up.
  • X-Men: Destiny for Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3: If you take the moral choices from Mass Effect and inject them into a 3D action brawler like God of War, you have X-Men: Destiny.
