We're expecting Eat, Sleep, Play's Twisted Metal game to be just the vehicular manslaughter-fest that we remembered as kids. Sad enough to say, though, instead of making its debut this October, the game is careening towards a 2012 release date. Why, you ask? Creator David Jaffe may be able to explain that better than we can.
"If we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow — going off the response from folks who have played it — I assure you, it would never be a bad game," he explains on the PlayStation Blog. "Not even close. But we're aiming for a heck of a lot more than that! With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multi-player classic. We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made. We plan to convert a lot of folks who think vehicle combat is a relic best left to ‘90s nostalgia and we plan to explode the belief that the only relevant kind of shooter is a first-person one."
We couldn't have said it any better, David. Take your time, take your time, and don't worry — we'll wait for the PS3-exclusive to hit (literally) stores first quarter 2012.
