Stalwart L.A. label Stones Throw is turning 15, and they’re throwing quite a party in Denver this week, featuring label head Peanut Butter Wolf, J Rocc, Mayer Hawthorne, Strong Arm Steady and Steve Arrington. A varied lineup indeed, from the DJ sets by PB Wolf and J Rocc to the outright deep funk from Arrington, the former singer '70s soul group Slave whose forthcoming album on Stones Throw is produced entirely by the one and only Dam-Funk. “Go Hard,’ a track from the sessions recorded thus far, has the greasy synth bass Dam-Funk’s albums are known for underneath Arrington’s bold crooning (track below).
