Diane Lane Drops Hints About "Man Of Steel"

Superman's mommy says Zack Snyder's reboot will showcase his formative years in Smallville.

In Zack Snyder's much-talked-about Superman film, now titled Man of Steel, Diane Lane will plays Clark Kent's (Henry Cavill) adoptive mother, Martha Kent. The actress recently revealed to E! Online that the superhero screenplay spans from the Kryptonian's birth up to his adult life.

Here's what she had to say about the new take on the mythos:

"I read the script under lock and key. I was locked in a room with the script and was only allowed three hours with it. I nailed it into my memory. I'm really excited. I'm really not allowed to talk much about it, I think, but it does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on."

Snyder is adamant that his flick won't have any ties to any previous Superman movie. Seems like the Sucker Punch director is coming for Richard Donner's neck, since the original Superman featured several iconic scenes dealing with Kal-El's infancy. The question is: Will Baby Superman be a bore? Or will he live up to the cinematic classic of yesteryear?

Man of Steel is on track for a December 2012 release and will star Cavill, Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan "Pa" Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Michael Shannon as recently confirmed villain General Zod.
