The live-action version of Akira is finally getting ready to head in front of cameras this August. Thanks to a new draft of the script, written by Harry Potter veteran Steve Kloves, which director Albert Hughes loves, plans are in good shape; now, it's time for Warner Bros. to find a couple of bankable lead actors.

The studio is sending the script out to a batch of actors, namely Andrew Garfield (The Social Network and next year's The Amazing Spider-Man), Robert Pattinson (Twilight), and James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class), all of whom are apparently under consideration for choice role Tetsuo.

Meanwhile, Tron Legacy's Garret Hedlund, McAvoy's X-Men co-star Michael Fassbender, Star Trek's Chris Pine, and the recently-not-so-retired Joaquin Phoenix will soon receive scripts to gauge interest in the role of fellow protagonist Kaneda.

The plan is to cram the massive manga into two films that'll tackle three books each—but who will fill the two roles?

There's still no release date pegged for Akira.
