They say you can never keep a good character down. You should keep a bad one down, though. Despite that logic, Marvel is bringing back Howard the Duck in Fear Itself: Fearsome Foursome.

Howard the Duck first appeared in the Marvel Universe in 1973. In 1986, the character achieved infamy with Lucasfilm's notoriously awful Howard the Duck film.

In Fear Itself: Fearsome Foursome, Howard returns, banding together a group of misfits, including the She-Hulk, Frankenstein’s Monster, and Nighthawk, to put an end to the Man-Thing before he burns all of New York to the ground! “As stand-ins for the Fantastic Four, they may not inspire confidence in the people they’re sworn to protect—but they each have a great story to tell," says series writer Brandon Montclare. "They’re going to turn some heads, and then knock them clean off!”

Even though he has a sizable cult following among comic fans, Howard very rarely gets the large spotlight he is receiving with this book. It’ll be interesting to see if Marvel has any future plans for Howard despite his bad reputation.

Written by Montclare with art by Michael Kaluta and Ryan Bodenheim, Fear Itself: Fearsome Foursome is set to debut this June.
