Mac OS X Lion To Feature Backwards Scrolling?

A new feature in the upcoming Mac OS could be a sign of future touchscreen iMacs and MacBooks.

Rumors have been swirling that Apple plans to introduce touchscreen versions of its laptops and iMacs in the near future, effectively combining the best of the desktop computing and tablet worlds. A new feature found in Mac OS X Lion lends even more credence to that idea.

A new video posted on 9 to 5 Mac shows that Apple has made the default scrolling option in Lion one that moves a page in the opposite direction of your scrolling movements, like on the iPad. If you have a touchscreen phone or tablet, you already know how this works. While browsing a web page, if you want to scroll down, you use your fingers to slide the page upwards. This is different from desktop computers and laptops that have you scroll down to move a page down and up to move a page up. Of course, you will be able to return scrolling to "normal" if you can't get with it.

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise, though, as the current tagline for the upcoming Mac OS X reads, "The power of Mac OS X. The magic of iPad."
