During an appearance on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show, Macklemore shared a lot of insight on his upcoming album, and he was nice enough to drop off a new song in the process. "Marmalade," which finds the Seattle rapper linking up with Lil Yachty, is a joyous and lighthearted song, fitting snugly alongside the previous release, "Glorious."

From the sound of things, the album is going to be filled with this sort of work. During the interview with Lowe, Macklemore cited how great he's feeling right now, and how his mood outside of the booth impacts his music.

"I always try to get a different pallet of sounds and textures and vibes," he said regarding the new project. "This album, I was in a good place man... for the most part, if I'm in a happy place and life is good, that's going to be reflected in the music."

Maybe that's just a reflection of the work-life balance he has going on right now. Though Macklemore has kept a lower profile in an effort to be close to his daughter, he insisted that hasn't stopped him from putting in hours in the studio.

"I haven't had a lot of time off in the last nine months. I built a studio in the basement of the crib so I could be with my daughter as much as possible," he said. "I kind of fluctuate between going down there recording, coming back up, hanging out with Sloan, and kinda doing double rap-life duty and dad duty at the same time."
