Russell Simmons Says He's Negotiating for Chance the Rapper to Host a 'Def Poetry Jam' Reboot

Russell Simmons says he's been negotiating with Chance the Rapper to host a new 'Def Poetry Jam' on HBO.

If you watched Def Poetry Jam back when it originally aired from 2002 to 2007, this could be an exciting development for you. And if you didn't watch it, this could be as good a time as any to start. Emphasis on could be.

We say that because on Friday, Russell Simmons teased a reboot of the series (which will now be titled All Def Poetry) on Twitter by saying he was negotiating with Chance the Rapper to be the prospective series' host. He also said that the new show would be on HBO (the original network it aired on) if it does indeed make its way back to the airwaves:

According to Deadline, Simmons had been speaking to Chance about the potential role since the rapper took home three Grammys at the...Grammys, when they were held about five months ago.

It's unclear what date, exactly, this show would come back if it does come back. But at least now you're aware that there's something in the works.
