Roscoe Dash Responds to Claims That He's Now a Lyft Driver

Roscoe Dash responds to allegations of being a Lyft driver.

Roscoe Dash has responded to a Twitter user's claim that he's a Lyft driver, sharing a lengthy statement Friday in which he denied driving for the ride-share company. Dash, however, said the white Chevrolet Tahoe pictured in the tweet does belong to him and is part of a fleet of vehicles he lends out to close friends to make extra money.

"Earlier today, it was brought to my attention that a Twitter user tweeted out a route screenshot from a Lyft fare, which included a picture of myself, and a WHITE TAHOE," Dash said Friday. "First things first… YES! That is my vehicle. YES! That is me in the photo. There is no denying that. Why would I? However, I do NOT drive Lyft. I own several vehicles, and periodically, I lend them to my close friends, so they are able to make a little extra cash. I consider myself a successful entrepreneur, while talking to any successful businessman they will tell you the same thing. Creating multiple streams of income is the key to a long, and very lucrative career financially."

Dash went on to say there's "nothing wrong" with driving for Lyft or Uber. "I have decided to take this opportunity to open the lines of communication and reach out to the gentleman who Tweeted about me yesterday evening," he said. "My team and I want to offer him a ride to make up for the canceled ride of which I think he wanted to happen very badly."

On Wednesday, Atlanta-based Twitter user @pmportier called out Dash for the canceled ride. "I had somewhere to be!" @pmportier said. "So you just for inconvenience me, Ima expose you a lyft driver now [sic]."

Dash’s most recent studio album was J.U.I.C.E. in 2011. In March of last year, Dash released his 23-track mixtape Glitch.

Lyft did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
