After a year-long effort by Papoose to get her to settle down and have a child, Remy Ma surprised her husband with the news that she was pregnant. Then, it was all taken away. In January, Remy shared a heart-wrenching video on Instagram following the revelation that she suffered a miscarriage, due to an ectopic pregnancy, which occurs when the egg attaches itself to a place other than the uterus.

Remy also found out that she would never be able to have kids naturally. Since then, she has sought out alternative ways to have a child, such as in vitro fertilization. However, IVF can cost upwards of $12,000, and not everyone can afford the procedure. "It wasn’t until I publicly spoke about it that I realized how many women are in the same predicament as me where they actually can have children, they just need an assist from medical procedures and they can’t because they are not financially stable enough to do it," Remy toldEssence

That revelation led Remy to try and help any other women who find themselves in a similar circumstance but aren't financially stable enough to pursue something like IVF. “It’s just weird to me that if you want to terminate a pregnancy, you could use your health insurance; however, if you wanted to conceive, health insurance doesn’t cover that,” she said. “So I’m looking at all of these politicians that claim that they’re pro-life and they want to eradicate women having the choice to terminate their pregnancies, but if you’re pro-life, why would you not set up something so women who can’t conceive and women who want to be mothers can do so.”
