Fans were absolutely pissed after tickets to Drake's eighth annual OVO Fest sold out in mere minutes, only to resurface on ticket reseller sites like Stubhub shortly after. Many blamed pesky ticket bots, which are programs designed to buy tickets faster than any human ever could in bulk so that ticket resell websites can then then upsell the tickets at a premium and laugh all the way to the bank.

OVO Fest, held in Toronto every year, will feature Partynextdoor, Roy Woods, Dvsn, Majid Jordan and, of course, the 6ix god himself.
Drake’s hometown province of Ontario, Canada introduced ticketing guidelines just this week, prohibiting ticket bots and limiting resale prices at 50 percent above the original ticket price. So far, these laws have yet to be enforced, even though it looks like fans will be very grateful once they figure it all out.
Those of us in the U.S. should thank former President Barack Obama for passing the Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act, which he signed at the very end of his term last year and makes the software behind ticket bots illegal nationwide. (And just to be fair, we have Obama to thank for lots of other things, not just this law, but it’s a nice addition to the list.)
